Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled AWS Cloud Native Software Application Engineer to join our dynamic team at Calabitek. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in developing software applications within an AWS Cloud framework. This role focuses on creating innovative solutions that enhance data sharing across various agencies and systems.

Project Insight

The GTA CJEP initiative aims to modernize the Criminal Justice Exchange Program, facilitating seamless data exchange among diverse entities. Your expertise will be pivotal in transforming the existing SoftwareAG-centric model into a fully cloud-native solution on AWS, streamlining data consolidation for participating counties.

Position Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Architect, develop, and deploy cloud-native applications utilizing AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and S3.
  • Serverless Architecture: Implement serverless solutions using AWS Lambda functions, primarily with Python.
  • Workflow Management: Build and orchestrate workflows leveraging AWS Step Functions and State Machines.
  • Web Services: Design and implement SOAP-based web services, ensuring robust functionality.
  • Security and Integrity: Create and manage custom headers for web services to uphold security and data integrity.
  • Data Transmission: Utilize MTOM attachments for efficient binary data transmission in web services.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and team members to refine user stories and deliver iterative solutions.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain code quality and performance through automated testing and adherence to best practices.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated with AWS services and best practices, sharing insights with the team.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrated experience with XML, XSD, WSDL, and related technologies.
  • Proven track record as a software developer with a solid understanding of cloud computing principles.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, particularly Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and S3.
  • Proficiency in Python; familiarity with additional programming languages is advantageous.
  • Experience with AWS Step Functions and State Machines is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies and the SCRUM framework.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and effective teamwork skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer) are a plus.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Familiarity with containerization (e.g., Docker) and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
