Position Summary

The Construction Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising daily operations, which includes designating material staging areas, overseeing roofing system installations, and managing crew personnel scheduling and issues. The role requires ensuring that roofing systems are installed safely, with the highest quality standards, and in a cost-effective manner.

Qualifications

To excel in this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Language: Fluent in English; Spanish is advantageous.
  • Skills: Basic mathematical and computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Licensing: Valid driver's license required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and the ability to develop a safety plan, including toolbox talks and safety huddles.
  • Capability to work independently while supervising and guiding the crew to achieve quality and production objectives.
  • Ability to calculate and manage labor projections, material storage, and requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in organizing, planning, and executing work assignments.
  • Ability to interpret shop drawings and replicate manufacturing details, including layout for roofs and walls.
  • Understanding of cutting, shaping, fitting, joining, and installing various construction materials.
  • Ability to manage material inventory effectively.
  • Knowledge of installing various roofing components and systems.
  • General understanding of construction materials and tools used in roofing structure assembly, installation, or repair.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and take corrective actions when necessary.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify issues and develop timely solutions.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills for conveying information and interacting with clients.
Key Responsibilities
  • Travel: Expected to travel 8-12 months per year.
  • Review job files and shop drawings with management, including scope of work, materials ordered, delivery schedules, and labor budget.
  • Conduct daily documentation to ensure compliance with manufacturer requirements and safety inspections according to OSHA/BRC standards.
  • Act as a liaison between the general contractor, customers, and subcontractors/employees for daily operations, including safety documentation and production planning.
  • Ensure that safety protocols and equipment are properly utilized on-site.
  • Supervise and support the crew daily regarding safety, quality, and labor production.
  • Maintain job site cleanliness and oversee daily housekeeping tasks.
  • Plan and monitor material needs to prevent shortages.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of on-site equipment.
  • Communicate regularly with management regarding job progress and field issues.
  • Prepare and submit daily reports, photos, and timesheets as directed.
  • Oversee quality control for each project, ensuring water tightness and proper site cleanup.
  • Coordinate punch lists and job closeout procedures.
  • Review job performance with management upon completion.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, including timesheets and safety documentation.
  • Installation and repair of roofing systems and components.
  • Knowledge of seaming and soldering techniques.
  • Ability to take measurements and plan clip spacing.
  • Install and seal vapor barriers and insulation layers.
  • Cover exposed nails with appropriate materials to prevent leaks.
  • Utilize various tools for roofing material application.
  • Inspect equipment and materials for compliance with standards.
  • Adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to use ladders, scaffolds, and stairways.
  • Physical strength to lift and handle materials.
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements and work in various positions.
  • Visual acuity for detail-oriented tasks.
  • Regular lifting of items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
  • Exposure to varying lighting conditions and extreme temperatures.
  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials and equipment.
  • Adherence to safety procedures is critical due to the nature of the work.
  • Possible exposure to minor injuries.
  • Work may involve heights and other hazardous conditions.
