About the Role:

Cocoon House is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Care Specialist to join our team at our Transitional Living Program in Everett. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and supportive environment for teens in our care, promoting positive interaction, and helping them develop essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build Strong Relationships: Establish and maintain positive relationships with youth, staff, and community partners, promoting a culture of respect, empathy, and understanding.
  • Provide Supportive Services: Offer individualized support to youth, addressing their unique needs, and helping them achieve their goals.
  • Develop Life Skills: Teach and model essential life skills, such as household management, meal preparation, and time management, to help youth become self-sufficient.
  • Ensure Safety and Well-being: Maintain a safe and healthy environment, responding to emergencies, and providing crisis intervention when needed.
  • Collaborate with Team Members: Work closely with case managers, counselors, and other staff to ensure comprehensive support for youth, aligning with their individualized plans.
  • Document Progress: Accurately record and maintain up-to-date records of youth progress, including goals, achievements, and challenges.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in a related field (e.g., social work, counseling, education) preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 6 months of experience working with youth, preferably in a residential or community-based setting.
  • Certifications: DCYF background clearance, valid driver's license, and reliable transportation required.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively in a team environment, and a passion for supporting youth development.
