About the Role

Cocoon House is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Care Specialist to join our team at our Transitional Living Program in Everett. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and supportive environment for teens in our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with youth and staff, promoting a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Maintain and model healthy boundaries with youth, ensuring a safe and respectful living environment.
  • Assess emergency situations, gather pertinent information, and provide appropriate support to ensure the well-being of our youth.
  • Follow mandated reporting and licensing policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • De-escalate youth in crises, utilizing anti-racist, inclusive, equity-based, and trauma-informed care practices.
  • Process intakes and exits for youth, provide orientation to incoming youth, and maintain accurate records.
  • Partner with case managers to support youth case plans, ensuring alignment with established goals and objectives.
  • Supervise youth in the program, ensuring safety and accountability while promoting positive behavior.
  • Assist with household tasks, meal planning, and cooking, promoting a sense of community and responsibility.
  • Arrange appointments, fill prescriptions, and dispense medication as needed, ensuring seamless coordination with external providers.
  • Communicate effectively with other providers, ensuring youth are following through with commitments and receiving necessary support.
  • Participate in enrichment activities programming and planning, promoting a well-rounded and engaging experience for our youth.
  • Provide information and directions for off-site services, ensuring youth have access to necessary resources.
  • Transport youth to appointments as needed, ensuring safe and reliable transportation.

Requirements
  • High school diploma/GED or high school equivalency.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • 6 months minimum of experience working with youth.
  • DCYF background clearance.
  • Acceptable driver's abstract with no more than 2 violations within the last 3 years.
  • Possess a valid driver's license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
