Job Summary

Cocoon House is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Development Specialist to join our team at our Transitional Living Program in Everett. As a Residential Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and supportive environment for teens in our care, promoting positive interaction, and helping them develop essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build Strong Relationships: Establish and maintain positive relationships with youth, staff, and community partners.
  • Provide Support and Guidance: Offer guidance and support to youth in achieving their goals and overcoming challenges.
  • Develop Life Skills: Teach and model healthy life skills, including household management, meal planning, and cooking.
  • Ensure Safety and Well-being: Maintain a safe and healthy environment for youth, including supervising activities and providing emergency support when needed.
  • Collaborate with Team Members: Work closely with case managers, counselors, and other staff to ensure comprehensive support for youth.
  • Document Progress: Maintain accurate records of youth progress, including goals, challenges, and successes.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: 6 months of experience working with youth, preferably in a residential setting.
  • Certifications: DCYF background clearance, valid driver's license, and reliable transportation.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse populations, and knowledge of youth development principles.
