Position Overview

The Quality Operations Lead is tasked with supervising a team of Quality Technicians in the formulation and execution of both internal and external quality standards, regulations, and protocols. This position plays a crucial role in generating and sustaining test data, conducting assessments, and reporting outcomes to uphold a consistent, high-quality standard for company processes and products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to industry, governmental, and company-specific standards concerning product quality and the efficient execution of daily operations.
  • Oversee thorough inspections of raw materials, semi-finished goods, and final products at various stages of production and throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Develop statistical analyses and reports on the quality of raw materials and finished products.
  • Minimize scrap production through comprehensive analysis and process enhancements.
  • Collaborate with the management team to establish quality controls and Work Instructions (WIs).
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of quality documentation for thorough review to meet both internal and external standards.
  • Monitor process performance and propose enhancements to the leadership team regarding production recipes for various stages of the process. Implement approved corrective actions.
  • Ensure that the finished products consistently meet quality standards.
  • Track variations in scrap products and out-of-specification raw materials that are rejected at different production stages. Conduct statistical evaluations and determine corrective measures.
  • Maintain ongoing defect prevention initiatives through FMEA and Risk Assessment reviews.
  • Assist in minimizing production downtime.
  • Conduct audits of processes and management systems.
  • Utilize statistical techniques for process control, experiments, or Continuous Improvement (CI) projects.
  • Engage with suppliers and customers as necessary, including site visits.
  • Review equipment calibration, validation, and maintenance records to ensure timely and accurate completion.
  • Draft Quality Assurance Reports (QARs) and provide training to employees on processes.

Qualifications

  • Relevant post-secondary degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Quality Lead in a high-volume manufacturing setting.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification is preferred.
  • Experience in PV solar module manufacturing is preferred.
