Job Overview

Primary Role:

The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that the manufacturing processes adhere to established quality and regulatory benchmarks. This role includes providing essential support and direction to management, staff, and clients, as well as delivering training to personnel as required. Furthermore, the Specialist will oversee documentation related to the company's ISO 9001 and FSSC certifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct validation testing of batches, implement necessary corrections, and maintain accurate documentation (e.g., Certificates of Analysis).
  • Manage quality retains and records in accordance with AMS retention policies.
  • Coordinate with external laboratories for sampling and testing as necessary.
  • Execute Environmental Monitoring protocols, manage sample shipments, and maintain thorough records.
  • Ensure calibration and documentation of quality and laboratory equipment are consistently maintained.
  • Oversee the cleanliness and inventory of the assigned laboratory and workspace, ensuring all materials are adequately supplied.
  • Support ERP initiatives related to Quality Control functions.
  • Act as a primary support for the Quality Supervisor.
  • Assist in conducting internal audits related to housekeeping.
  • Facilitate the fulfillment of sample requests.
  • Administer and maintain all controlled documents within the organization.
  • Update and manage procedural documents and forms.
  • Establish and oversee document hierarchy and process systems.
  • Train employees on the utilization of controlled documents.
  • Ensure compliance and quality standards are met for all documentation.
  • Coordinate all activities associated with document control, including distribution and access management.
  • Input document data into standard registers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Implement and uphold document control processes and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive filing system and database for all retained documents.
  • Manage the flow of documentation throughout the organization.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive documents.
  • Prepare reports and audits to identify document discrepancies.
  • Ensure all documents are current and accurately reflect existing policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by management to support company objectives.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods as required.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and thoroughness.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate complex technical information effectively.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Successful completion of background checks and pre-employment drug screenings.
  • Familiarity with company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to perform various tasks with individual initiative.
  • Capability to collaborate with colleagues across all departments.
  • Adherence to company policies regarding food safety, chemical safety, and workplace conduct.
  • Experience in regulatory and safety practices is advantageous.
  • Willingness to undertake tasks outside of this position as needed to meet departmental requirements.
  • All personnel must report any food safety and quality issues to the appropriate authorities.
  • Must obtain HACCP and PMQCI training and certification within six months of employment.

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related field is required.
  • Two years of relevant experience and/or training is preferred.
