Position: Human Resources Specialist

Mission Statement: Esperanza Community Housing Corporation is dedicated to social justice and community development in South Central Los Angeles. We focus on addressing the challenges faced by Indigenous, Black, Latino, and immigrant communities affected by systemic issues such as health disparities and displacement. Our work includes creating and maintaining affordable housing, promoting health equity, advocating for environmental justice, and supporting local economic opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Human Resources Policies and Compliance (25%): Collaborate with leadership to review and enhance HR policies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and legal requirements. Stay informed on employment law changes and advise on necessary updates.
- Talent Acquisition and Recruitment (25%): Work with management to assess staffing needs and develop strategies for attracting and retaining high-quality candidates. Oversee the recruitment process from job postings to onboarding.
- Employee Relations (20%): Act as the primary contact for employee inquiries and concerns, fostering a transparent and trustful environment. Assist in conflict resolution and promote a positive workplace culture.
- Staff Development, Wellness, and Sustainability (20%): Design and implement professional development initiatives that support employee growth and well-being, including performance appraisal processes.
- Compensation and Benefits Administration (10%): Assist in managing employee compensation and benefits programs, ensuring competitive and equitable practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- At least 5 years of HR experience, particularly in nonprofit settings.
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices and compliance.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Proficiency in office software and HR management tools.
Work Environment: This is a full-time position requiring on-site presence, utilizing standard office equipment in a typical office setting.
