Role Summary and Qualifications

Role Summary:

The Pharmacy Operations Manager will provide leadership support to the Director of Pharmacy and other Pharmacy Department leaders through daily management and coordination of pharmacy operations. This role involves overseeing the daily activities of pharmacy staff, delegating tasks as needed in accordance with established policies and procedures to maintain departmental productivity. The Operations Manager will play a key role in fostering a patient-centered department that prioritizes exceptional care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage pharmacy operations, including the formulation and implementation of institutional policies and practices at the departmental level.
  • Assist in the planning, development, organization, operation, and evaluation of pharmacy services, adapting operations in collaboration with the pharmacy management team.
  • Maintain appropriate information systems to enhance pharmacy workflow.
  • Ensure staff development, orientation for new employees, and ongoing training in collaboration with other pharmacy managers.
  • Update and enforce policies and procedures in coordination with the pharmacy management team.
  • Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations and provide guidance to staff regarding regulatory standards, participating in quality assurance activities to uphold safe medication practices.
  • Assist in budget preparation and cost containment initiatives related to medication use and operations, providing management reports as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with departmental productivity targets and assist with staffing proposals.
  • Prepare written or oral reports during shift changes to communicate incomplete assignments and potential patient safety concerns, ensuring continuity of medication therapy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or PharmD degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience as a hospital pharmacist.
  • ASHP accredited residency or advanced degree (MBA, MHA, MS) preferred.
  • Valid State Pharmacy License.
  • FL State Consultant License.
