Our comprehensive system includes a psychiatric hospital, various specialty care centers, four residency programs, and nearly 40 affiliated physician practices.
YOUR ROLE:
Position Overview: Under the direct oversight of the Director of Pharmacy, Pharmacy Supervisor, or a licensed Pharmacist, you will undertake a range of technical and administrative responsibilities within the hospital's unit dose medication distribution system and intravenous admixture program. Your duties will include:
- Maintaining confidential records and utilizing the computer system for data entry and retrieval.
- Preparing intravenous medications, including chemotherapeutic agents, hyperalimentation solutions, and antibiotics.
- Refilling automated medication dispensing systems with unit dose medications.
- Procuring and fulfilling requests for pharmaceutical supplies and delivering them to patient care areas.
- Managing pharmacy automation systems.
- Participating in specialized departmental functions such as documenting medication histories, compounding chemotherapy IV solutions, preparing sterile IV medications, and overseeing narcotic inventory.
- Assisting in the training and education of junior pharmacy technicians.
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Reports to the Director of Pharmacy, Pharmacy Supervisor, or Pharmacist.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
A high school diploma (or equivalent) along with successful completion of a Florida Board of Pharmacy (FLBOP) approved pharmacy technician training program. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years of relevant pharmacy experience.
Certification/License:
Possession of a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Registration with the FLBOP in accordance with Florida Statutes is required.
