Position Summary:

The Educational Support Specialist collaborates closely with Lead Teachers to create effective learning environments. Responsibilities include assisting the Lead Teacher, facilitating small group instruction across various subjects, and stepping in as a substitute when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist educators in addressing the instructional, educational, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students with disabilities.
  • Deliver small group or individualized instruction aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and lesson plans.
  • Gather instructional and behavioral data for each student’s objectives.
  • Implement Behavior Intervention Plans for students as required.
  • Maintain proactive communication with teachers regarding student progress and parent interactions.
  • Support standardized testing processes and adhere to state and local policies.
  • Prepare instructional materials and ensure availability for students.
  • Facilitate the distribution of food, supplies, and technology resources.
  • Monitor student movement throughout the school environment.
  • Assist with maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in classrooms and communal areas.
  • Support safe transitions for students between locations within the school.
  • Provide necessary assistance to students with physical needs, including feeding and mobility support.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities and assist in training volunteers.
  • Demonstrate consistent attendance and availability for on-site work during business hours.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisory staff.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • An Associate's Degree or higher, OR
  • Two years of college coursework (60 semester hours or more) from an accredited institution, OR
  • A High School Diploma or GED with passing scores on the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment Test.

Preferred Experience:

  • Two years of successful experience working with children, preferably in a K-8 setting.
  • Possession of a valid Georgia Paraprofessional Certification is preferred.

Compensation:

Liberation Academy offers a competitive salary and benefits package, with a starting salary of $32,000.
