STATE PARK PEACE OFFICER SUPERVISOR I (LIFEGUARD) – MONTEREY DISTRICT / MONTEREY SECTOR / MONTEREY DISTRICT OFFICE

The designated reporting location for this role is the Monterey District Office. The incumbent will operate under the general oversight of the State Park Superintendent III.

The SPPO Supervisor I (Lifeguard) will undertake responsibilities associated with the Districtwide Law Enforcement and Aquatic Safety initiatives. The individual may also support Visitor Services Programs, which includes public safety assistance for special events, fuel reduction efforts, and lifeguard services. A successful candidate will exhibit strong leadership within the community, collaborate effectively with allied agencies, and engage with District management.

The SPPO Supervisor I (Lifeguard) is expected to work autonomously and foster multidisciplinary cooperation among all Department and District personnel to achieve shared objectives.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) accredited Basic Training Law Enforcement Academy.
  • Possession of a valid Red Cross Advanced First-Aid Certificate or a valid First Responder Certificate.
  • A valid Red Cross or American Heart Association Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate is mandatory.
  • A valid Class C driver's license is required. Ensure to provide your driver's license details on your application.

This position is not eligible for telework.

Special Conditions:

  • A valid California Drivers License (CDL) is required.
  • Completion of specified educational courses as outlined in the Class Specification is necessary.
  • Successful candidates must pass a Drug Screening prior to employment.
  • A thorough Background Investigation must be cleared before hiring.
  • Medical Clearance is required prior to employment.
  • Psychological Evaluation clearance is mandatory before hiring.
  • Possession of a POST BASIC, INTERMEDIATE, or ADVANCED Certificate is required.
