This is a Peace Officer Position. To be eligible, you must meet the minimum qualifications established by the Department of Human Resources AND either be currently eligible or eligible for reinstatement as a PC 830.2, California State Peace Officer.
If you are not a current peace officer and in possession of a POST – Academy, Basic, Intermediate or Advanced Certificate, you are not eligible for this position.

The reporting location for this position is Monterey District Office in Monterey, CA. This position will work under the general supervision of State Park Superintendent III.
The SPPO Supervisor I (Lifeguard) will perform duties related to the Districtwide Law Enforcement and Aquatic Safety programs. The incumbent may provide Visitor Services Program support, including but not limited to public safety support to special events, fuel reduction, and lifeguard programs.
A successful candidate will demonstrate effective leadership in the community, with allied agencies, and with District managers. The SPPO Supervisor I (Lifeguard) is expected to work with a high degree of independence and is expected to model multidisciplinary cooperation with all Department and District staff in meeting Department and District goals.
Certificate of completion from a California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) accredited Basic Training Law Enforcement Academy and possession of a valid Red Cross Advanced First-Aid Certificate or a valid First Responder Certificate and a valid Red Cross or American Heart Association Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate are required.
Must meet the peace officer selection standards developed by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training per Penal Code section 13510(a).
