As a Long Haul Truck Operator, you will be responsible for driving a tractor-trailer over considerable distances to ensure timely deliveries, inter-company transfers, and backhauls.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to and strive to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) related to safety, quality, production, efficiency, and service expectations.
  • Implement practices and processes that guarantee safe products in compliance with relevant laws and regulations, while meeting the company's quality benchmarks.
  • Operate a tractor-trailer for interstate and intrastate transport to pick up and deliver goods.
  • Drive diesel or gasoline-powered tractors in accordance with commercial driving regulations set forth by the State Department of Transportation (DOT), US DOT, and FMCSA.
  • Safely couple and uncouple trailers, connect airlines, and maneuver equipment in challenging environments such as narrow passageways and urban settings.
  • Conduct thorough visual inspections of the tractor and trailer to complete pre-trip and post-trip checks, performing preventative maintenance as needed and reporting any issues to the supervisor and maintenance team.
  • Utilize Electronic Log Devices (ELD) and maintain accurate records in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including DOT and FMCSA.
  • Ensure possession of all necessary documentation, including vehicle registration and inspection reports.
  • Participate in random drug testing as mandated by DOT regulations.
  • Safely unload merchandise at retail locations according to bills of lading, using manual methods or powered industrial trucks as required.
  • Reorganize any merchandise that is not unloaded to prevent damage.
  • Assist with loading or unloading vendor merchandise as needed, utilizing hand dollies, hand jacks, or rollers for transport.
  • Contribute to Operational Excellence and engage in lean initiatives and problem-solving efforts as necessary.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Preferred two (2) years of over-the-road tractor-trailer experience.
  • Valid Class A CDL (Commercial Driver License) with a favorable driving record upon hiring, maintaining it throughout employment.
  • Physically qualified under US DOT regulations (part 391).
  • Ability to comply with local, state, and federal DOT and FMCSA regulations as required.
  • Capability to observe, follow, comprehend, and assess demonstrated processes and other workplace procedures.
  • Ability to meet safety, quality, and service standards.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstration of minimum proficiency in the English language to ensure effective training and ongoing communication regarding safety and quality matters.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Three (3) months of experience operating fork or squeeze trucks.
