Job Summary

Pacific Coast Producers is seeking a skilled Seamer Mechanic to join our team in Lodi, CA. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of all cannery seamer machinery or equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain seamers to operate within can manufacturer's specifications to facilitate proper seams on cans.
  • Adjust and set seamers and cappers to give proper closures.
  • Read, understand, and use micrometers, calipers, force cell gauge and other close tolerance measuring devices.
  • Maintain related machinery such as fillers and syrupers to proper specifications.
  • Order or list parts and install as required.
  • Dismantle and overhaul seamers and cappers.
  • Understand and maintain inkjet coders and ensure proper code on cans.
  • Work with quality assurance personnel to ensure product specifications.
  • May direct oilers/greasers, and other applicable personnel.
Requirements:
  • Reliable and able to maintain excellent attendance.
  • Significant (5+ years) relevant industrial experience.
  • Committed to safety and food safety, including use of appropriate PPE.
  • Proficient English communication skills.
  • Must possess and use personal hand tools.
  • May repair and maintain other cannery equipment, across the facility.
  • Certified ability to operate/drive a forklift (a.k.a. industrial lift truck).
  • Utilize technology to maintain records and operate seamers.
  • Supervise or assist other employees.
  • Responsible for the cleanup of his/her department, including good housekeeping practices.
  • Supervise seamer mechanics and/or machine operators.
  • Inspect cans.
  • Do or oversee mechanical work in cookroom department.
  • Observe clean, good housekeeping of personal storage areas and toolbox.
  • Ability to overhaul and work on other cannery equipment with proper training.
