POSITION SUMMARY:
The Dietitian is tasked with delivering expert nutritional advice, crafting tailored dietary plans, and assisting patients in their journey towards weight management. This role requires a solid foundation in nutrition and dietetics, exceptional communication abilities, and a genuine commitment to enhancing the health and wellness of others. The Dietitian will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, physical therapists, pharmacists, and mental health professionals, to ensure a well-rounded approach to weight management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform thorough nutritional evaluations for participants in the program.
- Create and execute customized nutrition strategies based on individual health requirements, preferences, and weight management objectives.
- Offer continuous guidance and encouragement to participants to support adherence to their dietary plans and achieve lasting weight loss.
- Educate participants on nutritional concepts, healthy eating practices, and lifestyle modifications essential for effective weight management.
- Track and assess participant progress, making necessary adjustments to diet plans.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to deliver a comprehensive approach to weight loss.
- Stay informed about the latest research and developments in nutrition and weight management.
- Facilitate group educational sessions and workshops on various nutrition-related subjects.
- Maintain precise and confidential records of participant progress and interactions.
- Engage in program development and enhancement initiatives.
- Comply with all regulatory and organizational policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Understanding of patient care standards and practices.
- Proficient in professional communication, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in using computers and various software applications, including Electronic Health Records (EHR), Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
- Adept at managing multiple priorities and problem-solving.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure to meet established goals.
- Commitment to maintaining high levels of professional integrity.
- Ability to represent the organization positively.
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Flexibility to work varied hours as needed.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a related discipline is required; a Master’s degree is preferred. A Registered Dietitian (RD) and Medical Nutrition Therapist license is mandatory. A minimum of two to three years of relevant experience is essential, along with a strong understanding of current dietary guidelines, medical nutrition therapy, and weight management strategies.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This position operates within a healthcare environment, requiring frequent sitting and computer use while allowing for varied physical activity for comfort.
- Must be capable of:
- Standing for 10% or more of the workday.
- Walking for 10% or more of the workday.
- Sitting for 80% of the workday.
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
- Requires bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching above shoulder level, and twisting occasionally.
- Frequent use of hands for tasks such as simple grasping, fine manipulation, and computer operation.
- All sensory skills (speech, vision, smell, touch, and hearing) should be corrected to near normal range.
