POSITION OVERVIEW
Support Services Specialists (SSS) engage in essential, professional activities aimed at delivering training and assistance to individuals with disabilities in their residences and/or various community settings. This assistance and training are designed to enhance the individual's skills and help them achieve personal objectives while fostering relationships within the community.
COMPENSATION INCENTIVE AVAILABLE
The individual in this role may be required to operate in diverse environments. Work hours will be arranged according to individual requirements, which may encompass evenings, weekends, or holidays. Participation in various training sessions will be necessary to broaden the SSS's expertise and ensure the provision of high-quality services.
WORK SCHEDULE
We are seeking full-time candidates with flexible hours, allowing for the possibility of creating your own schedule. This may include daytime, evening, weekend shifts, and potential overtime opportunities. The typical schedule for this role is Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate meaningful daily experiences for individuals by delivering structured training and tailored support based on their unique needs and aspirations.
- Participate in team meetings to ensure that the training and support provided align with the individual's requirements and preferences.
- Collaborate with the individual, their family, and other team members to identify desired outcomes, including involvement in assessments and evaluations as recommended by the Individualized Program Plan (IPP) team.
- Design training programs and maintain accurate documentation, records, and reports as necessary to ensure accountability and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Regularly evaluate training programs to promote personal development and ensure individual progress, making adjustments as needed.
- Act as a positive role model and educator for the individual regarding social behaviors, personal hygiene, language, and grooming, utilizing teachable moments.
- Work collaboratively with consultants, supervisors, and other agency personnel to support the needs of the individual.
- Instruct, adhere to, and enforce safety protocols in accordance with federal, state, local, and Region V Services regulations and procedures.
- Maintain a flexible schedule that can be adapted to meet the individual’s training and support needs.
- Assist the individual in fulfilling their nutritional and dietary requirements.
- Obtain certification as a Medication Aide, if necessary, and comply with all laws and regulations regarding medication administration.
- Provide essential supervision and training to the individual in various community settings to enhance their social roles.
- Support individuals in improving their community image by maintaining personal appearance and hygiene.
- Offer transportation and assistance as required to enhance the individual's community access skills.
- Attend staff meetings, training workshops, and other professional development sessions as required to enhance job performance.
- Assist individuals in managing their personal finances in strict accordance with Region V Services policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to meet the needs of Region V Services.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of training methodologies for individuals with developmental disabilities is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with special needs, including personal care and hygiene.
- Ability to contribute positively to a collaborative work environment.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the service location.
- Lifting may be necessary at the service location; if lifting or adaptive equipment is available, it must be utilized.
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Ability to accept guidance and complete assigned tasks effectively.
- Ability to identify and report situations that require supervisory input.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent knowledge is required.
- One year of experience in the human services field is preferred.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- Possession of a valid driver's license or other reliable means of transportation is required.
- Must have a dependable means of communication (e.g., telephone, cell phone).
- Subject to criminal history, Adult Protective Services (APS), and Child Protective Services (CPS) background checks. May be subject to drug and alcohol screening.
