Role Summary:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for executing advanced accounting and financial operations within the Finance Department. Key responsibilities encompass general ledger management, enterprise fund oversight, grant administration, and the preparation of diverse financial reports. This role requires the application of various methodologies to achieve designated objectives and address complex challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct a variety of intricate accounting tasks within a designated department or fiscal program, focusing on areas such as general ledger, enterprise funds, grants, and payroll.
  2. Oversee and guide the work of professional and technical staff, including participation in recruitment, performance evaluations, and employee training.
  3. Facilitate specialized training on program responsibilities, ensuring timely asset capitalization and project completion.
  4. Prepare annual financial statements for comprehensive reports, including necessary journal entries and reconciliations.
  5. Analyze and monitor departmental budgets, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to meet performance goals.
  6. Collaborate with Project Managers to assess project financial status and resource availability.
  7. Manage grant applications and maintain project documentation, processing reimbursement requests and budget modifications.
  8. Respond to auditor inquiries and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  9. Review financial transactions for accuracy and adherence to budgetary constraints.
  10. Generate journal entries in the general ledger and facilitate budget review meetings.
  11. Prepare various financial reports for oversight agencies and internal stakeholders.
  12. Handle sensitive financial records and maintain confidentiality of information.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, along with two years of relevant experience in accounting or finance is required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a post-offer medical examination and background check.
  • Compliance with safety guidelines.
  • Completion of required training as assigned.

Working Conditions:

The role is primarily office-based, with occasional travel required. Employees may encounter various environmental factors and may need to work outside standard hours as necessary.
