Role Overview: The Chief Operations Officer is entrusted with the comprehensive oversight of profit and loss, aiming to minimize expenses while enhancing operational efficiencies to meet or surpass profitability targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise critical functions encompassing all operations within the utility sector.
  • Foster a culture of ongoing enhancement. Collaborate with the leadership team to devise, implement, and assess strategic initiatives aimed at boosting efficiencies.
  • Regularly assess and adapt to the evolving business landscape, modifying processes as needed to address deficiencies and eliminate inefficiencies.
  • Identify and establish best practices, standardizing them for sustained improvements that deliver the lowest costs and highest value to the organization.
  • Ensure alignment between the division's strategic vision and market demands to guarantee ongoing growth and profitability.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and strategies to optimize business performance.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators, communicating results to the organization and formulating improvement strategies.
  • Deliver monthly performance reports as required.
  • Work collaboratively with all departments to ensure accuracy, teamwork, and timely delivery of products to clients.
  • Lead assigned personnel, offering positive, credible, and dynamic leadership. Proactively evaluate skills, providing training and development to cultivate high-performing teams.
  • Collaborate to ensure teams meet project milestones, ensuring timely completion of projects, including invoicing and daily reporting.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned or required.

Main Focus Areas:

  • Full accountability for profit and loss, through direct reports and matrix management of other functions, including Operations, Quality, HR, and EHS.
  • Collaborate with leaders to develop and implement best practices across the organization.
  • Establish performance metrics, striving to meet or exceed them while driving continuous improvement.
  • Optimize the leadership team to achieve business objectives.
  • Recruit top talent, mentor, train, and inspire staff to ensure peak performance levels.
  • Develop, refine, and monitor key performance indicators, initiating corrective actions when necessary.
  • Effectively communicate with all executive levels and operational management to ensure alignment with goals and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in the utility transmission sector preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple sites is essential.
  • 5-7 years of profit and loss responsibility with a strong operational and technical background.
  • Ability to act as a change agent, swiftly organizing and streamlining operations while maintaining a focus on the broader vision.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, with a proven ability to evaluate various abstract facts, develop reasoned alternatives, and effectively communicate decisions and solutions.
  • Proven track record of building support and credibility across all employee levels, fostering strong working relationships.
  • Maintains confidentiality and ensures appropriate levels of discretion.
  • Exhibits high energy and enthusiasm, focusing on agreed recommendations and outcomes.
