Job Summary

Comal County, TX is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Human Resources Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our HR department, you will be responsible for performing various administrative tasks related to the Human Resource function, including maintaining personnel files and records, creating job postings, new hire processing, and assisting applicants and employees with various personnel-related questions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the employment process, including preparing and posting job announcements, communicating with applicants, and assisting employees with employment documentation.
  • Coordinate new employee orientation, manage onboarding of employees, and process I-9 and new hire documentation.
  • Verify immunization requirements for county positions.
  • Compose, edit, and submit job advertising to 3rd party vendors, as requested by hiring managers for open positions.
  • Ensure Payroll Change Notices (PCN) concerning pay changes (new hires, promotions, demotions, transfers) are entered into personnel actions in the HRIS system.
  • Assist with Classification and Compensation Plan management.
  • Provide support regarding job description maintenance for accuracy and content.
  • Conduct personnel file audits annually.
  • Assist HR Generalist in separations and terminations, when needed.
  • Maintain and provide proper security for personnel records on all county employee files, including medical records.
  • Compose and coordinate routine correspondence.
  • Assist HR staff in carrying out functions or special projects.
  • Coordinate the DOT Random program, using appropriate system software, assisting vendors in ensuring Randoms are scheduled, and notifying department heads of testing dates.
  • Maintain the employee recognition/retirement program.
  • Perform records management as required by Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC).
  • Ensure confidentiality of records and Human Resources administration information.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of demonstrated Human Resources related experience.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or accredited certification preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Skill in database management and record keeping.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe, and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
  • Knowledge of Human Resources principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws and best practices.
