Job Summary

The Shop Lead Person coordinates service department activities to provide prompt service to customers and other departments at Peterson Cat.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety procedures, laws, policies, and rules.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers in a manner that promotes a positive relationship.
  • Work overtime as needed within labor law guidelines.
  • Organize, prioritize, schedule and assign work in the department to optimize department productivity.
  • Initiate and respond to communication with department supervisor, other departments, and customers in a timely manner to optimize customer satisfaction.
  • Review all work orders for accuracy.
  • Monitor department work in progress to ensure jobs are completed on time and to the highest quality standards.
  • Keep current on service, repair, and modification procedures for all brands and models of products assigned to the department.
  • Perform service and repair activities as needed to ensure department productivity.
  • Assist the department supervisor in service and customer relations issues as needed.
  • Provide technical support and assistance for all department activities.
  • Provide on-the-job technical training to department technicians as needed and make recommendations for formal training activities for department technicians.
  • Oversee the inventory and maintenance of department tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Operate company or personal vehicle as needed.
  • Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
Requirements
  • Associates Degree from a fully accredited college in Diesel Technology or other closely related field; and a minimum of 6 years of directly related experience in heavy equipment service; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Ability to obtain lift truck operator certificate.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
