Senior Database Administrator

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Database Administrator to join our team at Garmin International.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale database systems, ensuring high performance, security, and data integrity. They will work closely with our IT team to develop and implement database solutions that meet the needs of our business.
Key Responsibilities:- Analyze and optimize database performance to ensure efficient data retrieval and storage
- Design and implement database security structures to protect sensitive data
- Develop and maintain database access systems, including tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, and triggers
- Administer database replication between servers, across Local Area Network and Wide Area Network
- Provide 24x7 on-call support for database-related issues
- Collaborate with the IT Manager to establish database security structures and ensure Sox compliance
- Communicate effectively with business partners and stakeholders to understand their needs and provide technical input to solution development plans
- Share knowledge and actively mentor less experienced IT Administrators
- Perform and plan major version upgrades of database systems
- Design and implement effective monitoring of enterprise systems
- Tune systems using experience and deep knowledge of the area
- Foresee risks and communicate/mitigate those before problems arise
- Document technical designs and procedures for the team library
- Plan and manage technical projects involving other teams
- Communicate technology effectively to non-technical associates and management
- Recognize and understand technology impacts within the business
- Contribute to technical research on new technologies, processes, or procedures with a desire to continuously learn new technologies
- Participate in project definition activities, including estimation of delivery
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business, or another related field
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience
- OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Experience with Big Data Technologies, including HDFS, Kubernetes, Kafka, Elastic, and SQL Server
- Experience with Relational or NoSQL database technologies
- Demonstrated ability to implement new technologies effectively
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a small team setting
- Consistently demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization
