The Field Service Technician plays a crucial role in performing scheduled and corrective maintenance on Small to Medium UPS, Power Distribution Units, and Battery systems (2-120KVA) serviced by Vertiv. This position requires building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, colleagues, and sales representatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Service Delivery

  • Execute service tasks as directed, adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Work effectively under supervision or independently, depending on training completion.
  • Provide on-site and remote assistance to customers.
  • Collaborate with Technical Support for any technical or procedural inquiries.
  • Implement Field Change Notices according to established guidelines.
  • Stay updated on safety protocols and service advisories.

Safety Compliance

  • Operate safely, following all published safety guidelines.
  • Maintain company vehicles in accordance with local laws and company policies.
  • Wear appropriate PPE as required by job duties.
  • Adhere to work hours policies and report any work-related incidents promptly.

Administrative Duties

  • Complete administrative tasks accurately and on time, including time cards and service reports.
  • Manage personal inventory and conduct cycle counts as per company policy.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of company property, including vehicles and equipment.

Customer Engagement

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Provide estimated arrival times to customers when applicable.
  • Document maintenance activities and share with customers and local offices post-assignment.
  • Aim for a 'first-time fix' for all customer equipment.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction in line with company standards.

Performance Metrics

  • Maximize productivity by optimizing service opportunities.
  • Complete all technical and administrative tasks efficiently.
  • Make informed technical and commercial decisions under pressure.
  • Evaluate sites and equipment for accurate billing.
  • Meet or exceed response time requirements for customers.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Preferred qualifications include ASEET or AMEET, or progress towards these certifications.
  • A High School or Vocational School Diploma is required.
  • Military experience in a related technical field is a plus.
  • 0-2 years of relevant industry experience is desirable.

Skills:

  • Professional communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Proficiency in administrative tasks, including report writing and inventory management.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Basic site evaluation skills, including environmental conditions.
  • Familiarity with electrical and electronic testing equipment.
  • Ability to follow technical documentation and perform service tasks.
  • Competence in using personal computers and relevant software applications.

Working Conditions:

  • Travel to customer sites is required within the assigned district.
  • Work primarily involves scheduled maintenance, with occasional unscheduled service.
  • Successful candidates must pass a drug test and background checks prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is necessary.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this role, associates are regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle objects. They must be able to lift up to 50 pounds consistently and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
