JOB DUTIES:

This role is part of a career ladder with advancement opportunities.

The Multi-Disciplinary Building Code Inspector will conduct a variety of inspections including electrical, building, and plumbing/mechanical in the northwest Montana area. Your assessments and resolutions will significantly influence public safety, health, and welfare, as well as the quality of construction and compliance with established Codes.

As a Multi-Discipline Building Inspector, your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing inspections to ensure compliance with adopted Codes, Administrative Rules, and State laws.
  • Investigating complaints and conducting thorough investigations.
  • Carrying out administrative tasks such as on-site plan reviews and issuing permits.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Knowledge of state-adopted building codes, rules, laws, and policies relevant to the position.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Capacity to manage work schedules with minimal oversight.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining positive relationships.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A minimum of 6 months of experience in a construction-related field or an associate degree in a construction-related discipline is required.
