JOB DUTIES:
This role is part of a career ladder with opportunities for advancement.
The Multi-Disciplinary Building Code Inspector will conduct a variety of inspections, including electrical, building, and plumbing/mechanical, in the northwest Montana region. Your decisions will have a direct impact on public safety, health, and welfare, as well as the quality of construction and compliance with established Codes, influencing economic factors related to installation, maintenance, and repair costs for business owners and clients.
As a Multi-Disciplinary Building Inspector, your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting inspections to ensure compliance with adopted Codes, Administrative Rules, and State law.
- Investigating complaints and performing thorough investigations.
- Executing administrative tasks, including on-site plan reviews and field permit issuance.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Understanding of state-adopted building codes, rules, laws, and policies relevant to the position.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication.
- Ability to self-direct, analyze information, and provide excellent customer service.
- Capacity to develop and maintain positive relationships and present information clearly.
- Competence in managing deadlines and work schedules with minimal oversight.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to identify root causes and propose effective solutions.
- Capability to assess complex problems and evaluate options with a focus on life safety.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of 6 months of experience in a construction-related field or an associate degree in a construction-related discipline is required.
