About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the State of Montana as a Building Codes Inspector. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring public safety, health, and welfare by enforcing building codes and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with adopted building codes, administrative rules, and state laws.
  • Investigate complaints and conduct thorough investigations.
  • Provide administrative support, including on-site plan review and field issuance of permits.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 6 months of experience in a construction-related field or an associate degree in a construction-related field.
  • Preferred qualifications include certifications such as ICC IBC Building Inspector Certification and ICC IBC Plan Review Certification, Montana Master or Journeyman Electrical License, or IAPMO Uniform Plumbing Code International Fuel Gas Code and International Mechanical Code Certification.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
