Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of this role is to evaluate the creditworthiness of various fixed income debt issuers, particularly those from municipal and non-profit sectors. Additionally, the analyst will assist in the evaluation of other asset classes, which may include corporate bonds, structured securities, or alternative investments. The role involves participating in the enhancement of the investment research process and framework, as well as mentoring interns and new analysts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough analyses of municipal debt issuers across various sectors and transactions in both primary and secondary markets.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive written credit assessments, including issuer overviews, industry and competitive analyses, financial statement evaluations, relative value assessments, and other pertinent information based on qualitative and fundamental factors.
  • Monitor existing portfolio holdings and assist in maintaining the research database.
  • Provide buy, sell, and hold recommendations to portfolio managers, both verbally and in writing, within a relative value framework.
  • Support the analysis of additional deals and issuers across different asset classes.
  • Perform quarterly valuations of various private debt and private equity investments.
  • Assist in the training and development of interns and new analysts.
  • Engage in efforts to enhance the investment research process and framework.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in credit research, trading, industry analysis, financial research, or a related field.
  • Relevant coursework and internship experience will be taken into account.
  • CFA/MBA or a commitment to pursue is required.
  • Experience in the specific asset class is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Aladdin, Bloomberg, and Python is a plus.
  • The selected candidate will work a hybrid schedule, necessitating regular attendance at the Chicago location.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $81,400 to $138,900. When determining offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors. This position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and includes Kemper benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401k, etc.).
