Job Overview

INTRODUCTION

Hi-Speed Industrial Service is seeking a skilled Millwright/Predictive Maintenance Technician with expertise in various predictive maintenance methodologies. The successful candidate will possess a passion for machinery operations, exceptional customer service abilities, and a robust mechanical skill set.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct mechanical repairs on motors, fans, and assorted equipment in the field.
  2. Support the motor shop with general mechanical repairs and diverse tasks.
  3. Perform Cat 2 vibration analysis, including data collection and reporting.
  4. Execute laser alignment and motor removal/installation.
  5. Utilize motion amplification techniques, capturing videos and generating reports.
  6. Conduct ultrasonic testing, leak analysis, and provide reporting with estimated cost savings.
  7. Carry out infrared analysis, data collection, and corrective action reporting.
  8. Perform motor circuit analysis, both online and offline.
  9. Respond to after-hours service calls.

Qualifications

  1. High School Diploma or GED is required.
  2. Licensing/Registration/Certification is preferred.
  3. Must possess a valid Driver's License and DOT health certification.
  4. Demonstrated excellent customer service skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.

Experience

Preferred: A minimum of three years of experience in servicing and repairing industrial electric motors, fans, pumps, gearboxes, etc.

References from previous employment must be available.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand and power tools.
  • Capability to diagnose and repair industrial electric motors, fans, pumps, and gearboxes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment.
  • Understanding of electrical circuits.
  • Proficient in operating cut-off saws, grinders, oxy-acetylene torches, arc welders, hydraulic presses/pullers, etc.
  • Experience with bake-off ovens, bake ovens, and dip tanks.
  • Skilled in operating overhead and jib cranes.
  • Proficient in operating forklifts and man lift equipment.
  • Ability to use test equipment correctly, including surge testers, megger, voltmeters, ammeters, etc.
  • Effective communication skills to convey information clearly to other technicians and supervisors.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods.
  • Capable of various body positions: sitting, squatting, standing, lying down, etc.
  • Requires maneuvering over, under, and around equipment, with significant twisting and turning of the body, arms, legs, and hands to remove, install, and repair parts and systems.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds.
  • Excellent eyesight and depth perception are necessary.
  • Full use of body and senses is required to service and repair industrial equipment.

Mental Requirements

  • Must be proficient in English to follow instructions from supervisors and communicate with clients.
  • Ability to read and write in English to complete and utilize repair work orders and manuals.
  • Basic math skills are necessary for using technical manuals and testing equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. Work is primarily conducted in the shop and at customer locations, which may be subject to extreme temperatures and humidity. Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations is possible. There is a risk of electrical shock or explosion if safety protocols are not followed. The technician will be required to travel to customer sites in various weather conditions, and the conditions at these locations are beyond the control of Hi-Speed Industrial Service. If hazardous conditions arise, the technician must contact the office for guidance.

PERFORMANCE MEASURES

  1. The technician's performance will be evaluated based on:
  2. Timely completion of all work orders.
  3. Completion of work orders within or below estimated costs.
  4. Daily submission of all repair work orders and expenses with receipts.
  5. Accountability for all power and hand tools.
  6. Maintaining positive working relationships with colleagues.
  7. Acceptable attendance and punctuality.
  8. Adherence to company policies and procedures.
  9. Maintaining a clean and orderly work area at both Hi-Speed and customer locations.
  10. Supervisor satisfaction with the quality and quantity of work performed.
