Position Summary

ROLE SUMMARY:

This role is pivotal in overseeing and ensuring the safety and security of staff, residents, and facilities within the Housing Authority's jurisdiction.

Key responsibilities include supervising personnel, addressing emergency situations, and compiling reports.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
(The following duties are representative of the role; specific assignments may differ.)

Supervises personnel, including:
reviewing reports for precision; delegating tasks; and mentoring and managing staff performance as necessary.

  • Assesses alarm systems, fire suppression systems, surveillance cameras, access control systems, communication devices, and related equipment to ensure optimal operation.
  • Monitors communication channels to ensure adherence to established protocols.
  • Responds to service requests and emergency incidents.
  • Conducts patrols of parking areas, buildings, and associated environments as required.
  • Documents incidents and prepares various reports.
  • Addressees safety inquiries and concerns from residents.
  • Performs additional duties of a similar nature or level.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (positions in this category typically require):

An Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or a related discipline; 2-4 years of relevant experience; or, a comparable combination of education and experience sufficient to effectively perform the essential duties of the role as outlined above.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS (positions in this category typically require):

  • Valid Driver's License
KNOWLEDGE (position requirements at entry):

  • Applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines;
  • Various security systems;
  • Computer systems and associated technology;
  • Principles and practices of safety and security management;
  • Geographical layout of the housing authority's properties;
  • Building schematics;
  • Report preparation methodologies;
  • Supervisory techniques and practices;
  • Radio communication protocols.

Judgment and Decision-Making:
Operates under general supervision, utilizing established procedures with some creativity. Selects from limited options to resolve issues. Occasionally employs independent judgment to complete assignments. Frequently recommends improvements to work processes, policies, and practices. Refers unusual challenges to a supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Positions in this category typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.


Light Work:

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Should the use of arm and/or leg controls necessitate exertion of forces exceeding those for Sedentary Work and the individual sits most of the time, the position is classified as Light Work.


Incumbents may encounter mechanical components, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dust, gases, poor ventilation, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, travel, and environmental hazards.
