The Shredder Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the secure and effective functioning of the shredding machinery, collaborating closely with the facility management team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure safety and environmental regulations are met throughout the shredding processes. Collaborate with the safety department to spearhead safety enhancement initiatives and actively participate in the safety program.
- Establish operational timelines, set daily and monthly production targets, and refine operational procedures in partnership with facility management.
- Utilize performance metrics to assess the efficiency and quality of shredding operations.
- Prepare and oversee annual budgets and track monthly operational expenses related to shredding.
- Identify and evaluate new technologies for potential future application in shredding operations. Engage in company-wide committees focused on shredding, sharing best practices to enhance performance.
- Manage logistics related to trucking and rail transport in coordination with the transportation team.
- Direct preventative and emergency maintenance efforts for shredding equipment to optimize availability and reduce costs, including managing spare parts inventory.
- Supervise production staff on a designated shift, ensuring effective communication with maintenance personnel. Responsibilities include staffing, performance evaluations, training, and personnel decisions.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to assess and price scrap materials while maintaining strong relationships with commercial and individual customers.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED is required; an Associate or Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- 3-5 years of relevant supervisory experience in industrial manufacturing or heavy equipment production.
- Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems, and metals recycling operations.
- Basic knowledge of welding, mechanical, and electrical maintenance.
- Experience in maintenance management to effectively lead maintenance teams.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions within a heavy manufacturing setting, with hands-on operational involvement.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel for communication and information tracking.
- Strong communication skills necessary for effective interaction with employees at all levels.
- A valid driver's license is required.
