AWS Systems Engineer for Windows Environments

SeKON is in search of an AWS Windows Systems Engineer to contribute to our dynamic and innovative workforce. This position focuses on the development, maintenance, and enhancement of IT infrastructure within an AWS framework, prioritizing security and operational effectiveness. The successful candidate will possess significant experience with Windows systems, AWS services, and enterprise-level system engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Requirements and Design:
    • Draft comprehensive system requirements and design documentation, encompassing use cases, object models, data models, and XML schemas.
    • Assess new and existing software solutions for potential integration.
  • System Development and Testing:
    • Support the creation of test plans, test cases, and automated testing protocols for applications.
    • Conduct extensive systems programming, addressing complex file maintenance, telecommunications networks, and advanced software packages.
  • System Engineering and Administration:
    • Design, implement, and manage Windows server systems to ensure high availability and reliability.
    • Investigate system failures and devise strategies to reduce outages and interruptions.
  • AWS Environment Management:
    • Leverage AWS services such as SQS, S3, API Gateway, and SNS to bolster infrastructure.
    • Oversee cloud services management, ensuring adherence to security and performance standards.
  • Infrastructure Optimization and Support:
    • Deliver comprehensive IT support services, including infrastructure management, security, and architectural guidance.
    • Maintain a secure computing environment, supporting both government and commercial applications.
  • Technical Leadership and Collaboration:
    • Guide fellow systems programmers in the effective use of technical software and tools.
    • Engage in regular project status meetings, providing updates on achievements, challenges, risks, and timelines.
Qualifications:
  • Educational and Professional Experience:
    • Associate's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
    • A minimum of 3 years of practical experience in application design and development for complex enterprise systems.
    • Eligibility for Public Trust Clearance.
  • Technical Skills and Expertise:
    • 3-5 years of experience, with at least 2 years focused on development languages such as Java or Visual Basic.
    • Solid understanding of AWS environments and AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional certification.
    • Extensive background in Windows systems engineering, including SAN, clustering, and enterprise applications.
    • Proficient in automation, telecommunications, and IT networks.
  • Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills:
    • Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical capabilities.
    • Proven ability to design, implement, and manage server systems.

Additional Information:
The performance period spans five years, including a twelve-month base period with four one-year options. Contractors will perform work with flexible teleworking arrangements as approved by management.

Infrastructure and Technology:
The environment encompasses both Windows and Linux operating systems, with systems hosted within and outside the AWS cloud. Key technologies include ManageEngine, Service Desk Plus, AD Self Service, Lucid, Nagios, GitLab, Rubrik, and various AWS Platform Tools and Services.
