BAE Systems is the independent and unbiased weapon systems integration agent for the US Navy's Strategic Systems Program (SSP). We perform a variety of roles within the bounds of Systems Engineering & Integration, Lifecycle Logistics, and Information Technology / Information Management. As a critical member of our team, you will have the opportunity to be a part of SSP's Digital Engineering transformation for complex system design, development, and acquisition efforts.

BAE Systems has an immediate need for a highly qualified Agile PM/Scrum Master with experience applying agile tools in a systems engineering environment to support the SSP's adoption of agile principles and practices to enable greater adaptability, efficiency, and collaboration to deliver value to the mission.

The successful candidate will support systems engineering in a complex System of Systems (SoS) environment and work closely with the systems engineering modeling team to ensure that the work progresses on schedule, within budget, and to the desired level of quality. Additionally, you will serve as a coach and mentor to the team by helping to foster a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring that the team is meeting its objectives consistently. In this role, you will work with the team to ensure successful delivery of solutions in an efficient manner, tracking and communicating status to our customer in real time and elevating risks and dependencies as needed for action. You are the point person responsible for understanding the big development picture and bridging the needs of the customer, the team, and management.

Expectations of this role:
  • Utilize agile methodology values, principles, and practices to effectively plan, manage, and deliver solutions and new capabilities.
  • Schedule and lead PI Planning, Backlog Refinement, sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives, collaborating with all teams involved to ensure deliverables are prioritized and met.
  • Collect and monitor metrics and trends using Jira and/or Confluence
  • Effectively and accurately communicate with the customer, team members and internal leadership on status, risks, and issues.
  • Perform as a Servant leader to identify and resolve impediments, finding creative ways to solve problems
  • Facilitate internal communication and effective collaboration, while managing team capacity
  • Ensure that goals, scope, and product backlog items are understood and can be fulfilled by the team
  • Promote continuous improvement through retrospectives and feedback sessions.
  • Ability to adapt to quickly to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines
  • Ability to anticipate the customer's needs and work to exceed their expectations
  • Ability to work well under pressure with tight deadlines
  • Require little to no supervision – proactive approach to issue identification and resolution.
  • Train, mentor, and support teams to follow agile values, principles, and practices.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
    • Bachelor's Degree and at least six years of related/relevant work experience as a scrum master, preferably in a Scrum of Scrums environment or Master's Degree and at least 4 years of related/relevant work experience as a scrum master, preferably in a Scrum of Scrums environment
    • Scrum Master certification from Scrum Alliance or and/or Agile PM certification from PMI
    • Experience applying agile tools in a systems engineering environment to support the SSP's adoption of agile principles and practices to enable greater adaptability, efficiency, and collaboration to deliver value to the mission.
    • Experience in Waterfall and Kanban project management
    • Strong knowledge and experience of Atlassian tools such as Confluence and Jira
    • Strong problem-solving abilities in complex system environments
    • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Experience implementing Agile principles and practices within DoD or Federal government environments.
  • Knowledge and experience working in the Systems Engineering "V" framework
  • Knowledge of MBSE modeling languages, frameworks, and tools such as SysML, DoDAF, UML, Cameo
  • INCOSE and/or OCSMP Certification
  • PMP certification
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $ $191070

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
