About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Safety Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems. As a key member of our Strategic Systems Program, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our nuclear weapon systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement system safety project plans and schedules in accordance with customer objectives and priorities.
  • Ensure all responsible projects are executed within approved program management processes and contractual requirements.
  • Collaborate with a team of technical experts and junior engineers/technicians to identify hazards, assess and mitigate risk.
  • Develop and maintain internal work instructions and provide technical input to customer deliverables.
  • Support technical meetings and prepare and present project status reports to senior leadership.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in an applicable field and at least 4 to 6 years of related work experience or a Master's Degree and 2 to 4 years of related work experience.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to manage programmatic schedules and drive performance to meet contract deliverables.
  • Understanding of nuclear weapon system safety and command safety policy and requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Significant experience within the U.S. Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) Office, and the Trident II D5 Strategic Weapon System (SWS).
  • Demonstrated ability to grow program area.
  • Experience with the development and execution of Model Based Systems Engineering practices.
  • Models Based Systems Engineering certificate.
  • Advanced Nuclear Weapons Surety certificate.
