Current Opportunity: Join the Pharmacy Operations team at Central City Concern as a Pharmacy Intern (P1-P3)

Location: Central City Concern - Old Town Clinic

Schedule: Variable

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED)

  1. Required: Active registration with the Oregon State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Intern.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Previous experience in an outpatient pharmacy environment.
ROLE SUMMARY: The Pharmacy Intern (P1 - P3), operating under a pharmacy intern license, assists the Pharmacist in managing prescription processing and maintaining the Pharmacy Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Pharmacy Intern Responsibilities
  1. Execute all necessary tasks to guarantee the safe and precise preparation of medications, which includes collecting patient information, inputting it into the computer system, measuring and dispensing medications, and labeling containers.
  2. Prepare refill requests for healthcare providers following established protocols.
  3. Offer medication consultations to patients.
  4. Conduct point-of-care testing for blood pressure, blood glucose, and INR.
  5. Assist in anticoagulation management (warfarin) under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
  6. Support departmental projects and presentations as assigned.
  7. Deliver exceptional customer service, including addressing inquiries from patients, managing phone calls, preparing refill requests, and responding to questions from staff and the patient care team.
  8. Comply with all state and federal privacy regulations, including HIPAA, and adhere to CCC policies regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security. Report any breaches of protected health information or personal identification information immediately to the CCC Compliance Department and your supervisor.
  9. Participate in all mandatory CCC training sessions promptly.
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Leadership and Planning Responsibilities
  1. Enhance patient safety by assisting the pharmacist with medication management protocols.
  2. Encourage adherence by consulting with patients, conducting drug utilization reviews, monitoring returns to stock, and communicating trends with healthcare providers.
  3. Promote teamwork in a collaborative care environment with a diverse provider and patient population.
  4. Actively engage in evaluating and improving Pharmacy Department objectives and goals.
  5. Facilitate the development and implementation of new pharmacy services.
Skills & Abilities:
  1. Ability to consider the impacts and outcomes for underserved communities during decision-making processes.
  2. Awareness of the effects of oppression, structural racism, and individual bias on client outcomes.
  3. Knowledge of pharmacy operations methods and techniques.
  4. Ability to prioritize workflow, remain adaptable, and demonstrate a willingness to learn.
  5. Capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  6. Proficiency in computer systems.
  7. Understanding of record-keeping and reporting principles and procedures.
  8. Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
