Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Vehicle Safety Simulation Engineer to join our team at Detroit Engineered Products. This role focuses on enhancing pedestrian safety through advanced simulation techniques and rigorous analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive finite element models for vehicle crash and safety evaluations, specifically targeting pedestrian protection simulations, including head impacts and leg impacts.
  • Conduct in-depth Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) simulations to assess vehicle crashworthiness across various impact scenarios, utilizing LS-DYNA software for both high-speed and low-speed cases.
  • Assist in all CAE modeling activities related to pedestrian protection.
  • Implement innovative analysis methods to refine pedestrian safety simulations.
  • Support physical testing initiatives related to pedestrian safety.
  • Maintain high correlation standards for all pedestrian protection CAE models.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure design choices align with safety targets.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports to communicate analytical findings and proposed solutions to cross-functional teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering is essential.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in vehicle crash safety analysis is required.
  • Strong proficiency in CAE modeling and analysis techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with ANSA, HYPERWORKS, PRIMER, and LS-DYNA is crucial.
  • Comprehensive understanding of global pedestrian protection regulations and consumer metrics.
  • Proven expertise in CAE model correlation, including structural management and material model development.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities to devise innovative solutions for design challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • Over 5 years of experience in crash and safety analysis.
  • 10+ years of experience in full vehicle crash and safety analysis.
  • Proficiency in LS-DYNA and Hyperworks is essential.
  • Effective communication skills are highly valued.
