Job Description

Job Summary

The Senior Safety CAE Engineer will be responsible for leading and guiding the design process using CAE tools. This senior engineer will perform full vehicle frontal, side, and rear crash simulations as per FMVSS, USNCAP, and IIHS standards using Ls Dyna. The candidate will utilize pre-processing tools like ANSA and HYPERMESH to create and debug the full vehicle crash model. The Senior Safety CAE Engineer will use META or HYPERWORKS to post-process the crash simulation results, suggesting recommendations for improving the design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform full vehicle crash simulations using Ls Dyna and other CAE tools
  • Utilize pre-processing tools like ANSA and HYPERMESH to create and debug the full vehicle crash model
  • Post-process crash simulation results using META or HYPERWORKS
  • Suggest recommendations for improving the design
  • Correlate CAE results with test data
  • Apply advanced methods like DOE/DFSS to optimize the design
  • Create reports to present the results of the simulations and improvements achieved
  • Communicate with the design team, manufacturing team, and suppliers to achieve desired vehicle performance

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited or equivalent program
  • Master's degree or PhD is preferred
  • 8-10 years of experience in performing full vehicle crash simulations
  • Experience with using Ls Dyna, ANSA, META, HYPERWORKS, and PRIMER
  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, USNCAP, and IIHS
  • Knowledge of optimization tools and techniques
  • Knowledge of applying engineering fundamentals in development
  • Ability to work independently from start to end
  • Strong oral and verbal communication skills
  • Act as a team player and problem solver
  • Experience with correlation of CAE and test results
  • Experience with FEA modeling of long fiber composite components is preferred
  • Experience on development of BOF body structure is preferred
