KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce Inc. is currently seeking a dedicated Staff Accountant to support a dynamic real estate investment organization. This position requires a presence in the office four days a week, promoting a healthy work-life balance along with competitive benefits and career advancement opportunities.

  • The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for designated properties.
  • Review and comprehend organizational and financial documents to ensure compliance with accounting and reporting standards.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and payable aging, manage unapplied cash, assess bad debt allowances, and analyze cash flows and positions.
  • Timely approval of accounts payable is essential.
  • Collaborate closely with the field team to resolve any receivable and payable discrepancies efficiently.
  • Conduct reviews of commercial lease charges and perform reconciliations for common area maintenance (CAM).
  • Analyze capital expenditure account activities and apply for replacement reserves as stipulated in loan agreements.
  • Prepare monthly centralized journal entries along with supporting schedules for the assigned accounts.
  • Review bank reconciliations and promptly address any reconciling items.
  • Maintain and reconcile all general ledger activities for properties within the assigned portfolio.
  • Independently prepare monthly closing work paper packages, including variance explanations.
  • Investigate and resolve issues through effective communication with operations, finance teams, and external parties.
  • Generate monthly reports as required, including those for investors and lenders.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly financial reports and lender reports, along with other necessary quarterly documentation.
  • Compile required work papers for year-end audits and respond to auditor inquiries.
  • Prepare financial statements and footnote disclosures as needed.
  • Review tax returns prepared by CPAs when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in general accounting, property/real estate accounting, or public accounting is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel is mandatory.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • A solid work ethic with a focus on meeting deadlines is crucial.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple high-priority projects.
  • Experience with Salesforce and Yardi software is advantageous.
