  • The Staff Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the accounting records for assigned properties.
  • Review and interpret financial documents to ensure accurate application of accounting and reporting standards.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and payable, including aging reports, unapplied cash, and cash flow analysis.
  • Timely approval of accounts payable transactions.
  • Collaborate with field teams to resolve any receivable and payable discrepancies efficiently.
  • Conduct reviews of commercial lease charges and perform reconciliations for common area maintenance (CAM).
  • Analyze capital expenditure accounts and manage replacement reserves in accordance with loan agreements.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and supporting documentation for assigned accounts.
  • Review bank reconciliations and address any reconciling items promptly.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger activities for properties within the designated portfolio.
  • Independently prepare monthly closing work papers, including variance analyses.
  • Investigate and resolve financial discrepancies through effective communication with operations and finance teams.
  • Generate monthly reports as required, including those for investors and lenders.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly financial statements.
  • Compile lender reports and other necessary quarterly documentation.
  • Prepare work papers for year-end audits and respond to auditor inquiries.
  • Draft financial statements and accompanying footnotes.
  • Review tax returns prepared by external CPAs as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in general accounting, property/real estate accounting, or public accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary.
  • A solid work ethic with a focus on meeting deadlines is crucial.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple high-priority projects.
  • Experience with Salesforce and Yardi software is advantageous.
