One of our most demanding new domains is Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA), which merges the unique characteristics of superconductivity and quantum mechanics to create revolutionary energy-efficient computing systems. Our team is tasked with equipping the skills necessary to push computing beyond Moore's Law, advancing the development of computer architectures, processing/memory subsystems, and extensive high-performance computing systems. MDA is in search of a Senior Software Engineering Leader with a proven track record to support our innovative MDA team in the realm of emerging supercomputing technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

Our Software Engineers design and enhance next-generation supercomputing capabilities, including simulations, algorithms, test automation, and data management and analysis tools. You will be integral to our enterprise-wide digital transformation, leveraging model-based engineering, DevSecOps, and Agile methodologies as we continue to refine how we deliver essential national defense products and capabilities. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will utilize your software development expertise and oversee all phases of the software development lifecycle, encompassing design, development, and testing.

This position is contingent on clearance.

This position will serve on-site in Maryland.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • A minimum of 20 years of experience in software development, including significant leadership experience (18 years with a Master's degree; 1 year with a PhD)
  • Extensive proficiency in a variety of object-oriented programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, Matlab, etc.
  • Ability to learn, contribute to, and debug extensive codebases while proposing optimization strategies and best practices
  • Experience with the agile software development lifecycle
  • Experience in developing and articulating software architecture concepts
  • Candidates must be U.S. Citizens with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD TS/SCI clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Effective communication skills in a highly technical environment
  • Experience with full stack web development and RESTful web services
  • Familiarity with relational and/or NoSQL databases
  • Experience in UI design and development
  • Knowledge of test automation and instrument control
  • Experience with continuous integration tools such as GoCD, Jenkins, Artifactory, and version control tools like Git
  • Experience with server tool deployments and maintenance
  • Experience in deriving software requirements
  • Experience in creating design artifacts such as UML and SysML
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
