Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is on the lookout for Lead Embedded Software Engineers and Senior Lead Embedded Software Engineers eager to embrace new technologies. Join our dynamic Software Technologies Organization to assist in the development, enhancement, and maintenance of software for advanced products and systems. Candidates will engage in software systems for mission-critical applications throughout all stages of the software development lifecycle, primarily utilizing C/C++.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify potential risks, propose mitigation strategies, monitor defects, devise solutions, and communicate status updates.
- Develop and implement unit tests and build verification test plans, while tracking and reporting testing progress.
- Conduct thorough reviews of software-related products, designs, and other technical documentation.
- Actively participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPT), design evaluations, and other necessary reviews.
- Engage in technical peer reviews to ensure that system/software requirements are met from a comprehensive system perspective.
The Software and Digital Technologies Organization is recruiting for three distinct sub-organizations:
- Software Technologies: Focused on radars and sensors for ground and aerial platforms, our team manages stable projects across various clients and platforms, covering areas such as ship-based countermeasures, battlefield awareness, real-time radar processing, aerial target detection and tracking, and cognitive electronic warfare.
- Product Line Software: Develop distributed, real-time, and embedded operational technology software systems for general-purpose and high-performance embedded computing applications, all from your desktop environment.
- Secure Processing: Safeguarding warfighting capabilities by preventing unauthorized information leaks and blocking malicious intrusions.

Basic Qualifications for the Lead Level:
- 5 years of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another STEM discipline; 3 years with a Master's; or 0 years with a PhD, or an additional 4 years in lieu of a degree.
- Experience in C/C++ programming.
- Expertise in real-time embedded software development.
- Comprehensive experience with the full software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debugging, and maintenance.
- Active DoD Security Clearance at the Secret Level (or higher) is required for consideration.

- 9 years of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another STEM discipline; 7 years with a Master's; 4 years with a PhD, or an additional 4 years in lieu of a degree.
- Experience in C/C++ programming.
- Expertise in real-time embedded software development.
- Comprehensive experience with the full software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debugging, and maintenance.
- Active DoD Security Clearance at the Secret Level (or higher) is required for consideration.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in real-time embedded software development, particularly in Radar, Electronic Warfare, or Space technologies.
- Proficiency in algorithmic application development and optimization.
- Familiarity with VxWorks and/or Linux Operating Systems.
- Experience with Visual Studio and Matlab.
- Knowledge of Coverity and/or KlocWork tools.
- Experience with Open Architecture Solutions.
- Familiarity with the Atlassian toolset, Kubernetes, Model-Based Engineering, and DevSecOps best practices.
Compensation:
Salary Range 1: $102,400 USD - $153,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $127,000 USD - $190,600 USD
Employees may qualify for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company success. Employees in Vice President or Director roles may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
