Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is on the lookout for experienced Embedded Software Engineers to join our dynamic Software Technologies Organization. This role involves the development, enhancement, and maintenance of software for advanced products and systems. Candidates will engage in software systems for mission-critical applications throughout all stages of the software development lifecycle, predominantly utilizing C/C++.

Role Summary:

As a Lead Embedded Software Engineer within the Software and Digital Technologies Organization, you will encounter a stimulating and fulfilling opportunity to contribute to our comprehensive digital transformation initiatives. Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify potential risks, propose mitigation strategies, monitor defects, devise solutions, and communicate status updates.
  • Develop and implement unit tests and verification test plans, while tracking and reporting on testing progress.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of software-related products, designs, and technical documentation.
  • Actively engage in Integrated Product Teams (IPT), design evaluations, and other necessary reviews.
  • Participate in technical peer reviews to ensure that system/software requirements are met from a holistic perspective.

The Software and Digital Technologies Organization is recruiting for three distinct sub-organizations:

  • Software Technologies: Focused on radars and sensors for various platforms, our team works on diverse projects including ship-based countermeasures, battle space awareness, real-time radar processing, and adaptive electronic warfare.
  • Product Line Software: Develop distributed, real-time, and embedded software systems for high-performance applications directly on standard desktop environments.
  • Secure Processing: Safeguarding operational capabilities by preventing unauthorized access and protecting against malicious threats.

Basic Qualifications for the Lead Level:

  • 5 years of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another STEM discipline; 3 years with a Master's; or an additional 4 years in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficient in C/C++ programming.
  • Expertise in real-time embedded software development.
  • Experience with the complete software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debugging, and maintenance.
  • Active DoD Security Clearance at the Secret Level (or above) is required for consideration.

Basic Qualifications for the Senior Lead Level:

  • 9 years of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another STEM discipline; 7 years with a Master's; or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficient in C/C++ programming.
  • Expertise in real-time embedded software development.
  • Experience with the complete software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debugging, and maintenance.
  • Active DoD Security Clearance at the Secret Level (or above) is required for consideration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in real-time embedded software development with knowledge of radar, electronic warfare, or space technologies.
  • Experience in algorithm development and optimization.
  • Familiarity with VxWorks and/or Linux Operating Systems.
  • Experience with Visual Studio and Matlab.
  • Familiarity with Coverity and/or KlocWork tools.
  • Experience in Open Architecture Solutions.
  • Knowledge of the Atlassian toolset, Kubernetes, Model-Based Engineering, and DevSecOps best practices.

Salary Range: $102,400 USD - $190,600 USD. Employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company success.
