Your Role

We are currently seeking a Water Resources Team Leader for our Minneapolis office. This role involves advancing our client engagement initiatives, spearheading strategic pursuits, and leading the development of our water resources division while serving as a senior project manager.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving client growth and will act as the pursuit manager for strategic initiatives. This position is pivotal in establishing WSP as the preferred partner for our water and transportation clients, employees, and collaborators.

In this capacity, you will actively support the leadership team in Minnesota through WSP's strategic pillars: People & Culture, Clients, Operational Excellence, and Expertise. You will represent WSP externally, utilizing both local and national resources to deliver exceptional value to our clients.

Reporting to the Midwest Water District Manager, this position will focus on expanding WSP's client base and will significantly influence all aspects of profit and loss, including revenue generation, project margins, staffing, workload forecasting, project delivery, staff utilization, quality, and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Minnesota water resources team, focusing on employee development and creating a distinctive work environment.
  • Manage local client coordination and cross-selling initiatives in collaboration with various business lines.
  • Ensure pursuit teams are accountable for executing strategies and completing assigned tasks.
  • Advance the strategic direction of the Minnesota office to foster sustained growth.
  • Leverage WSP's extensive technical expertise to enhance existing and new service offerings.
  • Perform engineering design services and supervise routine projects and personnel.
  • Collaborate with clients on specific projects and ensure technical accuracy in all deliverables.
  • Prepare technical reports and project proposals, manage budgets, and fulfill administrative requirements.
  • Assist in business development efforts to expand our water client base in Minnesota.
  • Demonstrate personal initiative, reliability, and punctuality in all tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resource Engineering.
  • Over 10 years of professional experience in stormwater design, drainage, and hydrogeologic assessment.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a focus on accountability and goal orientation.
  • Experience in project and client management.
  • Registered as a professional engineer in Minnesota, or the ability to obtain registration within three months.
  • Strong understanding of water resources.
  • Excellent verbal and technical writing skills.
  • Active involvement in professional or client-based associations.
  • Commitment to ethical decision-making and adherence to WSP's Code of Conduct.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety standards.
