The City of Minneapolis is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Investigative Specialist to join our Human Resources team. As a key member of our Investigative Unit, you will conduct thorough and impartial investigations of complaints alleging violations of our policies.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in complaint assessment and assist in determining the scope and overall investigative plan.
- Conduct joint investigations with the Minneapolis Police Department's Internal Affairs Unit when necessary.
- Assist in responding to requests from the City Attorney's Office for litigation preparation.
- Serve as a neutral factfinder in conducting and overseeing investigations.
- Produce high-quality investigative summary reports.
- Support the Director of Internal Workplace Investigations in managing the complaint investigation process.
- Manage electronic records for investigations and ensure data accuracy.
- Effectively communicate and manage the expectations of affected leadership and participants.
- Maintain current knowledge of workplace investigations and best practices.
- Ensure discretion and appropriate handling of sensitive employee information.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Communication, Journalism, Legal, or a related field.
- At least two years of related work investigations experience.
- Ability to work effectively with people of differing backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives.
- Advanced ability to use modern office technology and web-based navigation.
- Ability to work flexible work hours with some evening hours required.
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- Knowledge of workplace investigative techniques and principles.
- Knowledge of Local, State, and Federal discrimination laws and regulations.
- Ability to manage and control investigative processes.
- Ability to maintain a consistently high level of detail and accuracy.
- Strong critical thinking and analysis skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
