Compensation Range
$110,700 - $170,556 Annually
$110,700 - $142,128 Annually for the SES.1 level
$132,810 - $170,556 Annually for the SES.2 level
Please note that this pay range serves as a general guideline.

Multiple openings are available for Mechanical Engineers to engage in both new and ongoing initiatives. Our work encompasses nuclear weapon engineering design, systems engineering, experimental device design, as well as shock, vibration, and thermal testing. We also focus on the fabrication and assembly of components and the assessment of nuclear stockpile elements for their evaluation and maintenance.

Your Responsibilities
- Define engineering requirements and develop conceptual designs for mechanical systems.
- Oversee the detailed design process, including component fabrication and unit assembly.
- Prepare necessary safety and engineering documentation and take part in design reviews.
- Engage in engineering testing operations, analyze results, and compile reports.
- Create detailed plans, schedules, and budgets for project activities.
- Collaborate with various internal and external organizations to complete projects.
- Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance, requiring U.S. citizenship.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
- Fundamental knowledge in at least two of the following areas: engineering hardware design, systems engineering, manufacturing techniques, and testing processes.
- Working knowledge of design principles and material properties.

Preferred Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience interpreting specifications and mechanical drawings, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Familiarity with project management practices and high explosive materials design applications.

This position offers a career indefinite opportunity, welcoming both Lab employees and external candidates. It requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance, and selected candidates will undergo a Federal background investigation to determine eligibility for access to classified information.
