Job Summary

Aalyria Technologies, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Opto-Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. As a senior member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and developing complex mechanical systems from conceptual stages to production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Lead the design, analysis, and development of complex mechanical systems, including precision mechanisms, kinematics, lasers, and thermal control.
  • Engineering Analysis: Perform engineering analysis using commercially available FEA software, MATLAB, spreadsheets, etc. (e.g., tolerance stack, optical, structural, heat transfer, vibrations).
  • Prototyping and Testing: Assist in rapid prototyping/modifying hardware using hand tools, band saw, vertical mill, and/or lathe, and ensure accuracy and completeness of all drawings, engineering records, analyses, and tasks of assigned projects.
  • Documentation and Communication: Produce comprehensive documentation, including design drawings, design specifications, analysis results, and assembly instructions, and interact effectively and efficiently as part of a multi-member, multi-function team.
  • Mentorship and Guidance: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior mechanical engineers, promoting best practices and fostering professional growth.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: 5 years of post-college experience in mechanical design and product development.
  • Skills: Proficient in CAD tools such as SolidWorks and commercially available FEA tools, strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical design principles, and excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
