Position Overview

The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for managing electrical maintenance operations, emphasizing quality, safety, and efficiency to ensure optimal equipment performance while minimizing costs. This role will also involve leading the design and enhancement of new electrical systems as well as modifications to current equipment, adhering to plant standards. Furthermore, the position includes improving preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct electricians and maintenance personnel in the upkeep and installation of electrical and control systems.
  • Ensure the plant maintains the proper operation of all electrical and control systems.
  • Design and oversee corrective maintenance initiatives.
  • Coordinate and execute electrical engineering projects.
  • Supervise contractors engaged in electrical assignments.
  • Guarantee effective execution of electrical maintenance on plant equipment, ensuring adherence to budget and timelines.
  • Develop and implement operational methods and procedures within the electrical sector.
  • Enhance electrical maintenance processes to maximize equipment availability.
  • Oversee significant operations, ensuring timely completion, such as annual overhauls.
  • Mentor and supervise a team of electricians.
  • Assist in formulating preventative maintenance routines (PMRs) and bills of materials (BOMs) for electrical apparatus.
  • Prepare engineering scopes for electrical projects within the plant.
  • Engage with contractors, including obtaining estimates, selecting suppliers, and providing on-site guidance.
  • Develop cost assessments and justifications for capital initiatives.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments for proposed electrical modifications and enhancements.
  • Maintain consistent specifications for modifications and enhancements.
  • Research and propose new preventative maintenance practices based on emerging technologies.
  • Utilize SAP for procurement, reviewing work orders, analyzing reports, and managing electrical projects and maintenance programs.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as necessary.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • Preferred 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering.
  • Ideally, 2+ years of experience in heavy manufacturing environments.
  • Strong project management capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Expertise in NEC, NFPA, and ISA standards.
  • Experience with CAD software.
  • Knowledge of PLC/DCS and HMI architecture.
  • Solid understanding of the operation and maintenance of electrical equipment, including power distribution systems, circuit breakers, high-voltage systems, HVAC and pressurization systems, variable speed medium voltage drives/motors, transformers, switchgear, MCC equipment, and power monitoring and communication systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of system analysis, including short circuit, coordination, load flow, motor starting, and arc flash studies.
