Healthcare Assistant at Wellington Lung and Sleep Clinic

Position Overview
A Healthcare Assistant is responsible for delivering patient care in an outpatient clinic environment. This role involves addressing both immediate and ongoing patient needs at the Wellington Lung and Sleep Clinic.
Work Schedule: Tuesday - Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. No weekends or holidays. This position encompasses responsibilities at both the front desk and back office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute administrative and patient care duties in alignment with the Intermountain MGPSMA Scope of Practice and established protocols.
- Communicate effectively and courteously within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Welcome and prepare patients for consultations while fostering a supportive and positive atmosphere.
- Attend to patient needs, coordinate care, administer treatments, and document interactions accurately.
- Ensure patient safety and confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Collect and record patient data, including vital signs, medical history, and current medications.
- Demonstrate proficiency in examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
- May perform blood draws and prepare specimens for laboratory testing as required.
- Conduct routine tests such as EKGs, hearing, and vision screenings upon Provider request.
- Schedule patients for diagnostic tests and follow up to confirm completion.
- Communicate test results and develop care plans as directed by the Provider.
- Document care plans, test results, and examinations in the medical record as instructed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in patient exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and dispose of waste according to established protocols.
- Administer prescribed medications and vaccines through various methods.
- Report non-routine issues or concerns to the practice manager or healthcare providers.
- Complete safety checklists and quality control measures as necessary.
- Exhibit sound judgment and composure in emergency situations.
- Uphold the mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health while adhering to service behavior standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current BLS Certification required upon hire or within 60 days.
- One year of experience as a Medical Assistant, including phlebotomy.
- Successful completion of initial MA onboarding within 90 days, along with annual skills fairs and site-specific training.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Successful completion of a National Certification Exam for Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to see and read information, assess patient needs, and operate medical equipment.
- Frequent communication with patients and healthcare providers.
- Manual dexterity for handling delicate equipment and frequent computer use.
- Capability to lift and transfer patients, as well as retrieve and carry supplies.
- Ability to navigate busy environments and assist with patient transport.
- May require standing for extended periods.
