Role Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant (MA) operates under the guidance and licensure of a Physician or Advanced Practice Clinician in a clinical setting.

Work Schedule

This is a part-time position, requiring 27 hours per week. The clinic operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a schedule of Tuesday to Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM. There are no weekend, night, or holiday shifts.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Duties:

  • Prepare necessary documents and supplies.
  • Utilize computer applications effectively in the office.
  • Manage scheduling and coordination of appointments, admissions, tests, and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and inventory of supplies.
  • Document patient history and vital information accurately.

Financial Responsibilities:

  • Assist in coding for procedures and diagnoses.
  • Handle pre-authorizations and referrals as per insurance requirements.
  • Ensure timely billing through proper documentation.

Clinical Functions:

  • Assess patient needs through various communication methods.
  • Recognize and respond to emergency situations appropriately.
  • Prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas.
  • Conduct comprehensive intake processes as directed by healthcare providers.
  • Administer screening tests as required.
  • Support providers during examinations and procedures.
  • Deliver patient education as instructed.
  • Report significant changes in patient conditions to the Physician.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or equivalent experience.
  • Current RN/LPN license is acceptable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • National MA certification from recognized organizations.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to see and read information, communicate effectively, and perform manual tasks with precision. Expected to assist with patient mobility and handle various weights of supplies and equipment.
