Job Title: Direct Support Professional

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team at The Arc Eastern Connecticut. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live fulfilling lives.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing personalized support and care to our participants, enabling them to achieve their goals and maximize their independence. This includes assisting with daily living skills, recreation and leisure activities, health and wellness, and community integration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver training, support, and assistance to participants in areas such as personal care, daily living skills, social skills, health needs, and community integration.
  • Participate in the design, implementation, and monitoring of individualized support plans, ensuring that participants' needs are met and their goals are achieved.
  • Administer prescribed medications to participants as ordered by physicians.
  • Accurately complete required documentation, including program data, incident reports, daily logs, progress notes, and health records.
  • Ensure participants' health and safety, including prevention of abuse, CPR, Standard First Aid, and evacuation procedures.
  • Provide transportation to recreational and community activities.
  • Prepare participants' meals following published menus.
Requirements:
  • Prior experience working with individuals with developmental and physical disabilities is preferred.
  • Ability to mentor and assist individuals in all areas of life skills, including recreation, independence, communication, and health.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Basic computer aptitude and ability to speak/write in English.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday, 6am-10am
