Job Title: Direct Support Professional

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team at The Arc Eastern Connecticut. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live fulfilling lives.

Job Summary:

The Direct Support Professional will provide personalized support and assistance to participants in various aspects of their lives, including personal care, recreation and leisure, daily living skills, social skills, health needs, and community integration. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, demonstrate a positive work ethic, and advocate for the rights and dignity of individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver training, support, and assistance to participants in areas such as personal care, recreation and leisure, daily living skills, social skills, health needs, and community integration.
  • Participate in the design, implementation, and monitoring of individualized support plans.
  • Administer prescribed medications to participants as ordered by physicians.
  • Complete required documentation, including program data, incident reports, daily logs, progress notes, and health records.
  • Ensure participants' health and safety, including prevention of abuse, CPR, Standard First Aid, and evacuation procedures.
  • Provide transportation to recreational and community activities.
  • Prepare participants' meals following published menus.
  • Mentor and assist individuals in all areas of life skills, including recreation, independence, communication, and health.
Requirements:
  • Prior experience working with individuals with developmental and physical disabilities is preferred.
  • Ability to mentor and assist individuals in all areas of life skills.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Basic computer aptitude and ability to speak/write in English.

Schedule:

Wednesday to Saturday, 10pm-8am.
